I researched and researched online to see if it could be done and then I physically went into a couple of local jewelers to ask and nobody would touch it. Apparently it is very risky because the heat has to be so high that it can destroy the gems.

1. In 2013, Lou gave my husband an incredibly generous deal on my engagement ring. Though the price was far below any other jewelers we had visited, the quality is unparalleled.

They put an extension in a new necklace, appraised it and fixed an old necklace correctly and with lightning speed so I could wear it to a party. Benvenuto's is personable, precise and honest. My hubby is taking them a new piece to be worked on this week. 5 stars across the board and a very refreshing experience.
3. A few days ago I looked down at my hand and to my horror realized one of the diamonds in the halo of my engagement ring was missing! Not only did Lou replace the diamond free of charge, but he did it within one hour of me dropping it off!!! As I live relatively far away (DC area), Lou dropped everything else he was doing to get the repair done for me ASAP so I wouldn’t have to make the trip again to pick it up. Have you ever heard of such thoughtful, generous customer service??? Not only that, but he cleaned it and tightened all the prongs to make sure the ring was in tip-top shape. I did not realize the prongs need to be tightened at least once a year to make sure things like this don’t happen! It was my own fault for not bringing it in to get it checked, yet Lou made the repair free of charge. I am so grateful!
I purchased my 1 carat diamond wedding band from this jeweler over the summer. Lou made sure that the cut and color of the diamonds on the band matched the diamond in my engagement ring. On top of that, Lou thinned down the band of my engagement ring to my pleasing. I actually cried upon seeing the finished product.
2. Also in 2013, Lou generously offered to resize a ring for me which had not even been purchased from his shop. Not only did he resize the ring, he noticed one of the small marcasite side-stones was missing, put in a special order to get a replacement stone delivered to his shop, and set the replacement stone into the ring. All of this free of charge.
I'm absolutely thrilled that I found Benvenuto's Jeweler's in Bel Air! They are designers and artists and knew just how to re-size the ring.

The week of my wedding Lou, Kim, and Lauren did everything in their power to make sure that I had the perfect jewelry to wear for my big day. I was blown away. I wore the most beautiful sapphire and diamond earrings that tied everything together beautifully!

I got engaged a few months ago and took my ring to Kays. When I received the ring back it sounded like diamonds were lose. I had been referred by a family member to go to Benvenuto's Jewelers. The first time I called the staff was absolutely pleasant on the phone. When I arrived at the location the store was very clean and professional and the staff was very welcoming. The jeweler even came up front from the back to talk to me and go over a few things with the ring. They gave me a time frame that was reasonable and accurate. They even called to advise me of some other things they notice on the ring and asked my permissions before doing anything that we did not initially discuss. I received my ring back a few weeks ago and I am very pleased with the work that was done and how clean and sparkly it was. I will certainly be going back there for any other jewelry needs and will refer my family and friends. Thanks guys!!!
