They are hands down the BEST Vet I have ever been to. They are caring, detailed, thorough, and listen to any concerns you may have about your pet. The attentiveness to my pet's health along with changes noticed within the pet since the last visits are truly impressive. They go above and beyond in educating the owners of any issues the pet may be experiencing, and never do they dismiss any requests or concerns you may have, as they truly care for your pet as much as you do! Medications are always in stock and they offer special orders per request.
My experience was great until I had to pay the bill. When I called to ask about a health certificate, I was quoted $28.50. I was charged $77.50. The receptionist told me that there was a $49 charge for the exam. So the charge for printing and signing a piece of paper is $28.50. There was no mention of a separate charge prior to the presentation of the bill. I am very dissatisfied with their deception.
Finally, we scheduled his surgery and after the biopsy of the testicle it was determined that he had in fact, cancer. I was informed by the doctors that they had gotten most of the cancer out, and his fur should start to regrow by February. After the first few weeks post surgery, I immediately noticed how much happier he was. He seem to be very playful and finally paid attention to our other dog. They actually play non stop now! I started to wonder if he was going to grow his hair back, and then all of a sudden as if it were magic it started to grow again. And it wasn't even February yet! My chocolate lab is only four years old, and to think that he could have succumbed to cancer at such an early age was indeed tragic to me. The vets there are caring and patient, not only with animals but the humans as well. I can't thank the staff and the vets there enough! If you haven't decided on a vet yet, please do yourself and your animal a favor and go to Greenbrier Vet!
My lab has had his fair share of heath problems. While he was a puppy, Dr. Street informed me that one of his testicles hadn't desended yet. He warned me that if we didn't get him neutered that it could cause cancer. The cost was going to be high, due to the fact that they have to surgically go into his abdomen and remove it. I delayed the neutering for about three years. In the meantime, he also was diagnosed with Lyme's disease.
I will never take my dog there again. Seems like they're just out to make a quick buck and don't care for the dog. Took my dog there for her shots and check up. I was told she's in great health, not even a week later she's in the emergency vet with a damaged liver. This was due to the allergy medicine they said she's alright to continue taking.
My cat almost lost his tail and Dr. Streett thought outside of the box and was able to administer treatments to save it. The staff is sweet and kind and the doctors are very knowledgeable and trustworthy. Though I have moved to Baltimore County, after trying another vet, I will be making the drive to Bel Air as the difference in service is well worth it. Overall I will say AMAZING Veterinary Office!
****Update****: Unfortunately Greenbrier Veterinary practice is not what it use to be 3 yrs ago. I had been going to this clinic aince 2011, and the quality of service and level of care has declined substantially. The skilled vets such as Dr. Streett, Dr. Rowland, Dr. Holloway, who truly cared for their clients and their owners are few and far between as they are no longer in practice or only at select locations. It's really a sad thing to see such a caring vet clinic turn so cold. The front staff is abrasive and the newer veteriarian Dr. Leppien the last few visits was dismissive and condescending. It really made me wonder if the vet owned a pet themselves. I'm sure there are other vets and staff that may be more welcoming but unfortunately it was not reflected in my experience. I work in healthcare, so I found it baffling to see a clinic, albeit a vet clinic, with such poor bedside manner and so disassociated with patient/owner care.
**Previous review (2014):
A few months ago, we noticed that he started to lose hair significantly underneath his body and around his neck. We took him to the vet to make sure that it wasn't a parasite, and rule out a few other issues. All the while he seemed to be normal and in good spirits. But it was definitely getting worse. After doing some research on my own and talking with the doctors, we decided that the fur loss could be a sign of cancer due to his retained testicle.
I don’t know where to start... they are extremely expensive & ripped me off!! They quoted me $300 for my male kitten & $500 for my female to get them spayed and neutered. My female has been throwing up her food, in whole pieces. Greenbrier put me on two different medicated foods with no luck, then did a leukemia & blood panel testing, still no luck. I took my pets to Chadwell in Abingdon. It was only $300 to get both my pets spayed & neutered. The issue with my female cat? Dr. Davis opened Izzy’s mouth, her gums were inflamed and signs of gingivitis she needs to get dental work and that is the reason she was not chewing her food! I wasted over $400 just in testing with Greenbrier. I am extremely disappointed in their services and their company as a whole.
