I was disgusted with this company's lack of accountability for their movers they sent to do a simple job. After expressing my disgust for the laziness and deceitful behavior of Tom's movers, I received virtually no concession of value. I believe they are not trustworthy or credible.

Tom (Owner) contacted me directly and explained that he had his top crew on the job that took extra time and care to assure my furniture was extra protected. We worked together to come up with a fair compensation and check was issued promptly. Updated rating to take this discussion into consideration. Tom was very receptive to my complaints and maintained a professional attitude to resolve.

Professional crew accompanied by the hands on owner. Top of the line equipment. Moved very large and very heavy storage cabinets down a flight of steps. No damage to the cabinets or the facility. Great job guys.

We moved from Havre de Grace to Bel Air with them at the end of August. The movers arrived 45 minutes late (and still charged us for the time). They asked to load boxes that we had not planned to have them move, and then did not deliver them to the new house. When I called to tell them the items were missing, first their mailbox was full, so I could not leave a message, a few days later I was able to leave a message, but my call was never returned. When I finally reached them, I was told that we had overlooked the items, and when I said that we had unpacked every box, I was told that I had taken too long to call.

In addition to throwing away our goods, they broke the glass in the door of our entertainment center. It took weeks for Troy to respond to our calls, and finally after we contacted the BBB, he came and got the glass that was not broken so he could order one that matched, and six weeks later, will not return the new glass or the one he took. We now have NO glass in our entertainment center.

After 12hrs and 1.5 truckloads, I was hit with a bill for TWICE the estimated amount. Unacceptable margin of error!!! Workers took plenty of breaks and showed no sense of urgency. I entered this contract based on the estimate (like any other job) and was not delivered the services according to that contract. Tried to contact company to discuss issue and waiting response.

UPDATE: I called this afternoon politely asking for a confirmation of my email address on file, as I had not received the invoice yet. After the young lady could not produce one for me, I asked for a call back from someone that could tell me the email they had on file. I just received a call from an irate Tom falsely accusing me of yelling at someone and he threatened to call the police for harassment if I called again. I did not get much of a chance to resolve the situation after firmly asserting that I would never yell at any of his employees, before he hung up on me. Not ideal for customer service.

I could have had other companies move EVERYTHING for this price, but I am still left with moving the leftovers but paid the same as a full move. Make sure to include a "not to exceed" comment if possible. Never again!!!

Tom (Owner) came to my house to provide an estimate for my move of just the heavy furniture (no clothes, kitchenware, or loose items, and no packing services). Estimate was for 3 movers, 1 truck, and an estimate of 6-7hrs to include travel and delays for weather.

Finally, many of our pieces were scratched and dented, but we figured that was just what happens when you move--but it shouldn't. We really expected better service especially since we bought the movers lunch and tipped each one $50.00 at the end of the move before we knew that they had left boxes in the truck and realized that they were not going to replace the glass they broke as promised.

A+

I've know and used Tommy Thompson and his moving company for 4 major moves starting in 2008. Three were local, and the major move was from a home in Massachusetts to here in Maryland. There are not enough words to describe how amazing the service was, the people were, or the follow up after each move that was well beyond my expectations. How many times in a lifetime do you use a mover? To this day whenever I think of a moving company for any reason Thompson's Moving instantly jumps into my mind. Hire them. Tom Gavin

After doing several government moves, I have seen what a household move should be like/look like. Thompson's said they would not send a "surveyor" to the house to assess the amount of belongings we were moving from our 2000 sq/ft house. Because of this, the two young movers showed up and the one was surprised a third guy was not sent. A pre-moving day assessment would have addressed this. He called their office and had a 3rd young guy come out to be a "packer".

UPDATE:

During the move and on more than a few occasions two of the movers were caught sitting down viewing their cell phones. Absolutely disrespectful, deceitful and dishonest, as I paid for movers to actually do the job they were hired to do. Upon checking some of the furniture, it was evident the brown layered paper was not enough to protect it. On previous moves, padded moving blankets were used on all furniture. Much of Thompson's paper wrapping obviously tore in transit to the storage facility, and they offered nothing in return.

Expected a possibly for a slight variation and factored in tips. Moving day they came with the resources promised but halfway through, 1 person had to leave sick. It took 1.5hrs for a replacement to arrive.

Do not use these movers.

All this over a simple request for an invoice for services I paid for last summer.

Don't expect to have all the boxes they load on the truck to be delivered to your new home or to have them be responsible to damaged/broken items.
